The Premier's NSW Export Awards is an annual program which aims to recognise excellence in the export of goods and services by NSW business. The Awards acknowledge the important contribution of New South Wales businesses to the economy through job creation and increased prosperity for the community and for the state.

From manufacturing, to mining, agribusiness to the arts, education to engineers and design and technology- businesses across all industries, regardless of size or location have the opportunity to enter the awards.

Australia's Export Heroes

Australia has always been particularly proud of our sporting heroes and we acknowledge our rugby, cricket and athletic stars on a regular basis. While we continue to applaud some of Australia’s finest athletes, we often pay little attention to those unacknowledged Australians working to promote Australia in other ways.

These are people with the passion and the drive to take their business into the highly competitive global market and promote Australia’s products and services. What many people don’t know is that through their work overseas and the foreign income they bring back into Australia’s economy they are further helping to build our local economy and community.

Australia’s 2008/2009 Export Heroes will be presented with their award at a special celebration to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Australian Export Heroes program. The awards dinner will be held on Wednesday 3rd June at Parliament House. Guest of Honour the Hon. Simon Crean MP, Minister for Trade will present the six Australian Heroes with their award at the celebratory dinner.

The six Export Heroes, judged by an independent Advisory Panel, have made extraordinary contributions to the Australian economy through their export achievements and they have all shown an outstanding commitment to building Australia’s export image on the world stage, through their outstanding careers, organisations and industries.

88 day China Challenge

The current economic slowdown is a wake-up call to Australian businesses to get out of their ‘local Aussie business’ comfort zone. Accidental Exporter

Are you one of the many hundreds of Australian companies who got into export by accident? You know the story: You met someone in a bar, or on a beach or in a taxi, and the next minute you were on a plane to Singapore  making your first offshore sale. Or someone placed an order on your web site and you suddenly had lots of customers in London! If so, congratulations! You saw an opportunity, you followed up, executed well and now you're one of many Australian exporters who are succeeding in many different countries and markets all over the world!

However, like in all aspects of business and in life, wouldn't it be better if you'd started off with a plan? A plan which analysed the best market for your product, the countries that offered the best prospects, and the product(s) or service(s) that are in the highest demand offshore?
