China: Update on labelling requirements for infant formula

Liam Dilley - Tuesday, June 09, 2015

This is an update of the information in the previous market access notices – MAA2013/01, MAA2013/05 and MAA2013/09 which refer to China’s administrative measures on inspection, quarantine and supervision of imports and exports of dairy products.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) understands that there have been further changes to the requirements for exporting of infant formula to China. It is understood that these changes prohibit repacking of imported infant formula from large bulk packages into small packages in China. In addition, that the infant formula must be labelled in Chinese before being imported into China.

DAFF recommends that exporters check with their importer regarding these changes.

Date of Issue:           25 June 2013
Date of Effect:          Immediate
